ADD....yes, ADD. Thats what my excitement is leading to currently. I still have so much to do around the house lately, but the phrase "never enough hours in the day" doesn't fit into my life. Time can fly. Happy New Year to all my readers!!

Heres a few pictures of my recent projects, and my sons 3rd birthday with my family over Christmas. Again, time flies :)

With all the homecoming fuss, I am trying to not get overly excited! We still have some time yet but Ive been doing as much around the house that I can. Family trips to break up the month have helped. I can't believe our baby boy will be 3 in just a bit. Im not ready for that! No amount of prep will brace me for that. I think there will be some sobbing for sure!!! Sadly we are both super sick with a nasty cold. For once I cannot point the finger at the origin ((sad face)) so we shall blame shopping carts!! Its even worse than when little man had a double ear infection early in the deploy. Hes so miserable and basically just lays around, and if you know my son at all, thats not his nature.

Blue Christmas...

I've been trying my very hardest to get into the holiday spirit, I really really have. I promised to try this year, Im doing okay I think! I have basically every gift already wrapped. Im being really sneaky about some things around the house cause I want my husband to have some surprises when he finally gets back to us. Its been rather depressing knowing this is the 2nd Christmas in 4 years of marriage he has missed due to deployment. I really shouldn't whine because he has a much shorter term that so many others that serve, but that to me doesnt matter when hes missing my birthday, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, our sons birthday, and then even New Years. Its a total punch in the gut. We've been trying to visit my side of the family as much as usual, which is only because they live in state and are close enough given the little man gets car sick if we aren't careful. Sometimes it makes things easier but sometimes not so much. We went to the base wide Christmas party this past weekend and only lasted about an hour and half max. For one, little man was tired. Then it was crowded, loud, and just crazy basically. Ive been basing when we leave mostly on when he says so. Id rather him not be that child who leaves kicking and screaming.

I got together with a friend this weekend too, we made wreaths and I think they turned out rather nice!

This one I made over the course of two days really. Im loving the mums, rolled roses, buttons, yarn and bells. This is on our front door this year.

I finally started the holiday baking, since we have a family party this coming weekend. Guess its crunch time!

Wrong Side vs Right Side

A lot of people that a new to crochet have asked me for helpful tips, and ideas. I decided to share some with you. One of the most important ones I think is knowing wrong from right side. This is mainly used on hats for me.

This is what as known as the "Right Side" in crochet. The stitches tend to look more uniform and bold. Sharper if you will.

This is what is known as the "Wrong Side" in crochet. You can see the stitches blend more and are not as sharp.

One more helpful thing I wanted to post would be helpful to those who have photographers as clients, or whom send items off to be photographed professionally. There are far to many times Ive seen pictures with hats on backwards. There is a "joining seam" on hats, sometimes its very noticeable but most times a little reminder will not hurt. This picture is of a more obvious seam.

I was doing really good with the weekly updates and then once I ran out of the features I stopped writing again. OOPPPSSS. It has been really steady around here. My munchkin is making things really interesting. He looooves to color all on his own now, and that makes me super happy. The only problem is he is figuring out what crayons taste like in the process.

Yesterday my husband turned 28, so happy birthday to him!!

My name is Elisabeth Spivey. I've been married for 3 years and we have two sweet kiddos a boy and a girl. We are located in Oklahoma City, OK.

2) Whats the name of your handmade business and why is it named that way?
The name of my business is Calleigh's Clips and Crochet Creations

3) What do you specialize in?
I specialize in accessories for babies and children. I make crochet hats and headbands, Ribbon Bows, clips and lots of other items like dresses, jewelry and random crochet items

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales?
I started because I was laid off from a practically position. It was a Work At Home job through a special circumstance working as an Admin Assit. for a small contract company. It paid well and let me stay home and raise my kids. When the economy went down the company got to slow to keep me on. At the time I made more than my sweet hubby so we were drastically hit in our finances and well to top it off I was 6 months prego. I wasn't looking to get out into the work field anytime soon. I really wanted to stay home. I thought this would be a perfect time to try the things I loved to do most.

5) Where is your "office" located?
My "office" is in two place. We have a little nook area in our home that I like to make my bows in and sew. My other office is in the big blue chair in the living room where I love to crochet!

6) What is your most favorite item you have made or make?
Picking out a favorite item for me its hard. I'm having alot of fun making different types of crochet animal earflap hats.

7) What other passions do you have?
I love music. I love sing and to play piano! It's also been my second adventure this past year. I had the opportunity to teach piano part time at the Bible College I attended. I'm very excited to start up again in the fall.

8) What are some of your favorite things? Ie: color, food, place, etc.
My favorite color is green although I'm partial to anything Black & White. My favorite type of food is Mexican. The place I love to visit is Colorado. My most favorite thing to do is play piano.

9) Who inspires you? This is a very general question for a reason!
I'm most inspired by my mother. She's always been crafty so I learned alot from her. She is the one who encouraged me to try to sell my items. I'm also inspired my kiddos. I just wish I had all their energy :)

10) What do you want people to think/see/feel when they look your handmade things up?
I want people to know that they have received a handmade item just for them. I take pride in what I do and strive to be perfect. I want them to know I only use the best. For instance I would never use cheap itchy yarn. I make sure it's soft and snuggly and beautiful. I want them to feel special because many times is a One of a kind Item customized just for them.

I am Sara Sach, married 28 years to the same man. I am 47 yrs old and Have 2 grown Children and two Grandchildren. We spent 15 years traveling around the world with the Air force and then, returned here to Tulsa, Ok. After retirement, so our children could grow near family. I have two Chihuahuas, that are spoiled and love to wear sweaters and clothes.

2) Whats the name of your handmade business and why is it named that way?

The Name of my Business is Posh Pooch Designs, This name came about as I wanted a cutie name that sounded a little sophisticated. I chose "Designs" as part of the name because I do design all my own patterns, both crochet and sewing, and make them all myself.

3) What do you specialize in?

Dog Sweaters and clothes are my General Specialty, but within the Dog Clothes category, Sweaters are my main specialty. I started with just making dog sweaters, and since I cannot sell them year around, I ventured into , Embroidered Bandanas Dresses, tu tus, harnesses and Harness tu tus and …a lot more.

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales?

I actually started my business because Chihuahuas get cold, I had two, so I went shopping for dog sweaters. They never fit right or looked cute, and were made of thin cheap yarns and fabrics. So using my own dogs as models, I began making crochet patterns for sweaters and hats. My friends saw them, and wanted them for their dogs. After making several for free, they started paying for them and my son said, "Mom you should start a business." So I got a web page, Which led to and "Artfire Store", then a face book friend and fan page and now a blog. And I am having a blast with it!

5) Where is your "office" located?

We are located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I do have some a display in 3 different stores in town, "The Gift Garden", "The urban Paw Spa" and "Wagz Doggie Daycare".

6) What is your most favorite item you have made or make?

My most favorite item to make is still the first crochet sweater and hat pattern I made. It is a basic full body sweater with arms, that can be made in any color of yarn, and trimmed with fun yarns, and a matching hat.

7) What other passions do you have?

I do have several other passions…but one of my newest one is making Breast Cancer Awareness items….my mother was just diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I do actually have a Fund raiser going now to raise money for gas card for her..lots of trips to the Drs. plus chemo and radiation.

8) What are some of your favorite things? Ie: color, food, place, etc.

My favorite Color is yellow, Bright sunshine yellow mot school bus yellow..But I love Bright shades of most colors! I am a upbeat happy person and love to laugh and make other laugh. "Life is too short to live it grumpy" that is my motto.

9) Who inspires you? This is a very general question for a reason!

I am truly inspired by my husband, Keith. He has always encouraged me to grow, and although , at times I fell down, he has always been there to help me up, and try again.

10) What do you want people to think/see/feel when they look your handmade things up?

When people see my designs I want them to first thing, "That is something I want my pooch to wear ." I want people to see the care and fun I put into each item I design. To feel like I care about what they want, or need for their pooch, as well as get an affordable item.

Well it's Handmade Crochet Accessories, not a creative name I know, but just started selling my hats

as they were asking me were I got the ones my boys were wearing :)

loveee hats and mittens, I have made lots of hair accessories like flowers headbands!!!

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales?

Well I love crochet!! so relaxing for me and if I can sell my projects well welcome !!

haha I would have to say in my couch, or table, or bedroom, all depends were the kids are.

The name of my business is HollyCraft Originals. My husband actually came up with this name. Basically I have always loved crafting and all my appliques and cards are my original work.

3) What do you specialize in?
I specialize in handmade fabric appliques made from fabric scraps and upcycled denim and corduroy.

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales?
I started trying to sell on Etsy because I wanted to try to make money to pay for my hobbies. My husband seemed to think I was spending a lot of money on all of the different hobbies I do, so I thought why not try to make a few bucks off of what I enjoy doing?

5) Where is your "office" located?
My "office" is usually my kitchen table. I also like to work in the living room while watching a something on TV.

6) What is your most favorite item you have made or make?
I really love to make my little owl appliques. They are my favorite.

7) What other passions do you have?
I also enjoy scrapbooking, quilting, making cards, painting, drawing, baking, making korker bows

I love bright, funky colors together. My favorite food is pasta! And New York style cheesecake with strawberries(I make the recipe from Junior's) My favorite place to visit is Tennessee...beautiful. And I love Florida in the wintertime....:)

Wow~ Inspiration for me comes from so many places. I look at scrapbooking magazines ALL the time. I ♥ Mary Englebreit's artwork. And my Mom taught me so much of the things I use today in my crafting. I thank her for that! Her inspiration is what got me going.

10) What do you want people to think/see/feel when they look your handmade things up?
I want them to think that what I make is original, whimsical and fun. I hope they can see that I really do enjoy making my handmade items.

I am in my late 20's :) I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and picking up the hook daily to create something special for someone else.

2) Whats the name of your handmade business and why is it named that way?
JazCrafts is my paying hobby on the side. It is named that as my name is Jasmine I am rarely called by my name instead by Jaz, Jazz, or Jazzy.

3) What do you specialize in?
I specialize in Crochet hats mostly, but do offer other things such as scarves, mitts, baby booties, bath puffs, etc
If you find a pattern or want something that I do not offer I'm willing to try it to see if I can make it for you.

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales?
I was asked to make a pumpkin hat by a friend for their son, so I found a free pattern online tried it out and from there I was seeing orange as all the mommies in our playgroup wanted one for their kids. I have my fellow mommy Kristi to thank for that :)

5) Where is your "office" located?
My "office" is located in my living room, I sit on the couch with my lap top nearby and watch tv.

6) What is your most favorite item you have made or make?
My favorite item that I have made and make is the Levi hat, a pattern which I received from CrazySocks Crochet shop, it has brought me alot of business and has been a great success. Also anything that I can put a flower on it :)

7) What other passions do you have?
Other than crochet I used to dabble a bit in sewing I did it more before I had my son and while I was pregnant but now my machine sits in the basement with its cover on collecting dust for now.

8) What are some of your favorite things? Ie: color, food, place, etc.
My favorite colors are kelly green and amethyst purple, anytime I get to use those colors I love it. My favorite food is dim sum which is a Chinese brunch mmmmm sooooooooooooo gooooooood. Along with seafood and pasta.
My favorite place is anywhere my family is.

9) Who inspires you? This is a very general question for a reason!
I am inspired by what I see around me. Sometimes I get inspiration from other people (fellow artisans), other times it can be from what I see around me. Items that I make, the outcome is usually from what people request me to make for them, and then i will offer it. I like to merge patterns together to make something new and have had success with that a few times. I find the occasional free pattern that works out but mostly purchase my patterns from etsy from a few favorite shops. They have helped me to learn alot more about crochet I only previous knew a few basics, I still don't know everything but am still slowly learning.

10) What do you want people to think/see/feel when they look your handmade things up?
When others visit my shop/page I want them to see things that they could buy for themselves personally as well as for gifts which is the majority of all my sales so far. I want them to feel reminded of something they maybe had from their childhood that their grandmother or Nana made for them who may not be around to make something for their children now. My aunt taught me how to crochet and I am very grateful that she did show me how, as she is no longer with us, I am now able to make things for our family that she would have wanted to do. I now get to pass on her legacy in a way, although it may not be the same, they would not have been able to receive those things from me if it were not for her showing me her craft.

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales? I had seen so many handmade purses that really didn't seem that great to me for the price! I thought I could do a better job for a lower price.

5) Where is your "office" located? In the finished basement of my home

6) What is your most favorite item you have made or make? A custom purse and checkbook cover set for my mom!

7) What other passions do you have? Gardening, cleaning, organizing, and most of all spending time with my family!

8) What are some of your favorite things? Ie: color, food, place, etc. Favorite colors are green and orange. Favorite food could be anything! I love to try new things! My favorite place would be outside.

I love a good challenge, and enjoy figuring out how to create things from just a picture. I generally don't use patterns, but rather enjoy making it up as I go along and seeing what I come up with! I find I do my best work this way!

i have a variety of crochet items, like hats, toys, necklaces and patterns.

crochet is my passion, I relax while I do it and since I became a stay at home mom, I figured I could do what I love and make a little money, too.

bedroom or living room, while my son naps.

Baby hats, toys and granny squares!

I like to cook and bake, read, but my favorite thing is to spend time with my husband and my son.

I like things very colorful, but if I have to choose it would be pink or turquoise blue. I love Italian food, but I'd love to eat chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner. My favorite place is home.

My sister is a big inspiration, she is like a mom to me, she helped raise me after my mom passed away when I was 8 years old, she is a brave and beautiful person, I love her and thank her in my prayers every night.

Hi My name is Alisha Murray. I'm from Michigan and I've lived here my whole life. Last September I married my high school sweet heart. We've been together almost 6 years. I've recently taken up crocheting and I can't seem to stop creating new hats and Amigurumi Animals. My husband has set up the website for me and we are in the process of branching away from the business because it is my brother and his girlfriends business. My new site is called www.Kawaiicrochet.com and it should be up and running soon. For now though...my products will be sold on www.basementcs.com.

2) Whats the name of your handmade business and why is it named that way?
The name of my business is Kawaii Crochet. Kawaii is Japanese for Cute. My grandmother came to America from Japan when she was in her 20s and I wanted to use a Japanese word instead of calling it just "cute crochet."

3) What do you specialize in?
I specialize in a variety of Hats and Amigurumi animals. I hope to creak purses and wallets in the near future.

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales?
I was working kitchen Jobs after kitchen jobs. It was very stressful so I took up crocheting to relax. I enjoyed it so much and my husband suggested I sell my hats because I've gotten so many positive responses. So I left the kitchen world and went back into the arts and crafts.

5) Where is your "office" located?
I do all my work in my home while watching CSI and Law and Order. I Love it!

6) What is your most favorite item you have made or make?
My most favorite item I've made is my Amigurumi Dinosaur. I think it's adorable and I really enjoyed making it.

7) What other passions do you have?
I have many different passions within art, whether it is painting, drawing, Photoshopping, Crocheting, Cake Decorating, cooking, or Drumming. I love all ares and am very passionate about everything I get into.

Throughout the years my favorite colours have changed but I love Olive Green. I really enjoy traveling and my most favorite place to travel to was Japan. I've traveled there twice already and plan to go back this winter to see my family there.

My husband is my inspiration. He thinks that everything I put my heart into...cooking, drawing, crocheting.. is amazing. He tells me that I'm the most talented person he knows and Always supports me. He's my best friend and my soul mate.

I want people to be excited and happy when they purchase or even see my products. I've worked really hard to make my products special and unique for people. I express a piece of myself through crochet and I hope people feel the love in every stitch.

CrazySocks Crochet. CrazySocks was my screen name back when I was in H.S. When I first signed up for Etsy, I didn't know that my login name would also be my shop name, but I decided that CrazySocks Crochet sounded pretty cool, so I kept it.

3) What do you specialize in?
Hats, Crochet Patterns

4) What made you want to venture into the world of handmade sales?
I have a severe crochet addiction, and a severe money deficiency. No, but seriously... I crochet A LOT & when people started to become interested in buying stuff from me, I figured, "Why not?" and it was all uphill from there.

5) Where is your "office" located?
I mainly crochet at the kitchen table while my kids either watch TV or play in the back yard. I have an enormous yarn stash in my bedroom though. ha ha

6) What is your most favorite item you have made or make?
I love to make hats, and hot pads. But mostly hats. Especially tiny little newborn hats.

7) What other passions do you have?
I like to watch movies, listen to music, play with my kids... I really don't have any other hobbies or anything. I just enjoy my time with my friends and family... when I'm not crocheting, of course.

My favorite color is Rainbow. My favorite food is spaghetti. My favorite sports are baseball and bowling. My favorite animals are giraffes. :)

Other WAHMs inspire me. It's wonderful to be surrounded by so many other hard-working moms who take care of their families, and are able to manage an at-home business. I know some moms are busier than others, but more importantly... they've all found something they LOVE to do, and they're DOING it. :)

10) What do you want people to think/see/feel when they look your handmade things up?
I want people to think that my items are fun & colorful, and reasonably priced. I want adults to be able to have all the fun & cute things that you can usually only buy for kids... but I also want kids to have some of the more sophisticated things that are usually only made for adults. :)

I can say shamefully say that I have been addicted to Facebook since the day I found out about it. Myspace died really fast when that happened. I loved being able to get in touch with people whom I haven't seen or talked to since graduating high school, or some requests went as far back as grade school. It blows my mind! Now of course there are always those people you "guilt" add or feel like because they are family you must add them. Im not so into that idea anymore, and have been trying to scale back my numbers to people who honestly matter. Im not about padding my friend number just because I know you somehow.

This brings me to the beauty of "Fan Pages". I was just going to make a different account solely for my crochet, but instead chose the fan route. It has really paid off I think. Now, I only have 120ish fans but its still seemingly easier than garbling up my own page, and I am happy with each and every one of those fans choosing to add me in the first place. Plus, this way people Im not even friends with to add it and check everything out. I do feel this is going to help me with the "home biz". Okay, so apparently I like using " "s a lot too. :) Networking is really great, word of mouth is even better.

Ive made so many connections via Fan Pages so far that I feel are going to really help me out, and Ive already made some cool friends from it all. We will see how it plays out but I really have a happy feeling in my gut about this.

I am super tired, didn't sleep in much even though it was my day to do so. I guess I was more excited then tired. Thats okay, today has been a great day.

We got the dishwasher installed today, and man am I thrilled. Months and months and more months of hand washing really started to get me in a fritz. Im very glad that the husband finally gave up on trying to "fix" the old one. It was old thats for sure. Probably the first one the house had. Now not only can my hands have a rest, but I freed up more time in the day, and more counter space for that matter

Also I want to share with you something I worked up today. Something for myself for a change. Seems I rarely do that. Months ago I purchased a kit and pattern from Alessandra over at JustBeHappy! from her shop. Of course, like anything I actually intend on making myself, it sat around for a while, til I decided to bust it out today while the plumber was her installing our new friend. I finished it by the time he left too. So heres a few pics of the pretty Crochet Button Necklace.

Im am really rather pleased with it. Now I think I should have used a slightly bigger hook cause I have a thick neck so its a wee bit tight, but I am sure it will stretch enough for my liking. I cannot wait to make some more.

My my my, I've only been awake for about 45 minutes and already I am having the pit in the stomach feeling of being overwhelmed. I can't really say its a bad thing or a good thing. First, I forgot we were supposed to get some snow, and well, 9 times out of 10 that I heard that statement this winter its been like a spit storm here. Its really weird for me on this side of the state because for so long I was used to all that thick lake effect stuff and we don't get that here. So in my groggy semi sleeping phase of filling up a bottle for Alex this morning and having to blink twice at the site of the snow outside the kitchen window, I was overwhelmed. This was a good kind of feeling for me, now, don't get me wrong, Im really ready for Spring, but wow! snow! I would say 4 plus inches on the ground, and it really is coming down. I will attempt to take some pictures later.

That was the next reason I felt overwhelmed. I have a pretty nice camera thanks to my husband spoiling me, two actually! I have my Nikon D60 and my normal, but still very nice digital camera. I feel really stupid because I am totally in awe of photography, and I really loooove taking pictures, but lately I haven't been taking as many. Nor have I even read my owners manuals. I am more of a hands on learner I would say, but I really think I need to read the books, and internet, and maybe buy "d60 for dummies". Maybe I should try to take a beginners class at either the local college or try to find one in the community. I would really love some better pictures of my crochet, and other things in general....which leads to..

Then I got to thinking about my crochet...and I really got a mix of up and down feelings. Now I have been trying to sell my crafts for a few months now, and I have many supporters that say " Its about time!" but really it hasn't been what I expected. Im not really sure why I expected it to be any different because people seem to either have no clue about "handmade" or the love it. After having a conversation with my husband about my current and recent orders he seems to feel that I don't price properly. I think Im scared that if I have someone ask me an amount that I will sound crazy if I don't make it appealing. Then again, I really do know I deserve more. It really flusters me and I anytime this happens to me with a potential customer, I feel like I have to explain why I charge what I do. I think its really a self esteem thing. Or the fact that Ive had a lot of interest but when I name a price, and then get nothing further from the person, its rather depressing, almost angering. I mean, really? Its not so hard to ask how much, and then if you are put back by the price, just simply say "thanks" or something? However, I do think I have been cutting myself short....mostly because of previously stated reasons, but also because a lot of my customers are friends. Boils down to what people will think of me, and well, I don't really think that is fair. My "talent" is really just a self expression. On a different note, I really get a good feeling when people post nice comments on my sites. This leads me to why I was happily overwhelmed. I have seen so many things via the internet that I really want to do. I really want to take better pictures and possibly sell them, I have soooo many patterns bookmarked or saved on raverly, not to mention books and print outs of them that I really want to do. I think this is bad because my time is rather limited now. I just wonder how these people do it! I think its the fact that their children, if younger, go to school. I think that they must have a lot of free time at work or this is their work. I guess I get to thinking about my future and how I will accomplish all the projects I want to do..probably just going to have to wait til retirement lol.

And lastly, Alexander overwhelms me. I don't mean for this to sound bad. My child is by no means bad, hes an absolute blessing. He is learning like crazy. I am however, very on edge about this surgery. His eye has been clear for going on 3 days now, not completely, but lets just say I could take a picture of him confidently. But avast, I know this is trickery. I know it will come back the second he has a fit and tries to cry. Im nervous about his surgery in every way. I really want it to work and to not have to repeat anything. It is not even til March 16th but then again thats less than a month from now.

All and all, overwhelmed suits me today (so far ;) )

Le Sigh

Can I just let out a huge and long Sigh for just a moment. The world just never stops for somethings that I feel it should. Im not exactly sure if it is a sigh of relief, frustration, exhaustion, or a mix of a few things, but man it feels good to just siiiiiighhhhhh.

After returning back to town from the funeral services of Maxwell Fuelling, we are still not back to normal. Joshua started a night shift AGAIN, only this one is a bit more reasonable I guess. We will see if it lasts. This way he is able to on and off sleep in, and allow me to do the same, which is great cause Im not really a morning person. He can also give Alex lunch. He misses 2 baths but has been able to say goodnight to Alex also on his lunch break. I like that much, but I dunno.

Ive been working on crochet toys lately. They are rather a pain for me to get used to, but Im getting there and they are getting easier.

Theres Moko the Cat pattern finished. Just have a bunny to get done with. Im not really happy with how the first one turned out so Im going to see if my friend likes the other one better.

I decided I should write my goals down, otherwise I may loose site of the tasks at hand. Its only fair to myself to make sure I complete as many of these little tid bits this year as possible. I have been feeling the need for more accomplishment in my life lately. Ive really been having the annoying little voice in my head call me a slacker for a while now, well Ive decided its time to shut that voice up. So here goes nothing!

My Goals For 2010:

Loose all the baby weight.... that's about 8 more lbs to go I figure.
Get more toned, and in better shape
Improve my blood numbers that were striking from my physical
Eat better to help with the previous
Play with Alex more: taking him for walks, to the library, etc. Instead of playing inside all the time
Spend more time loving my husband. I found out that I can be more affectionate to him.
Improve my spending habits. I don't go overboard but I can do somethings differently.
Try cooking new meals. The same old same old is getting old.
Make more times for dates out with the husband. Trust a sitter and get over leaving the kiddo behind. We deserve it and he will not love us less for it.
Break Alex of the bottle for good. He should already be off it as far as Im concerned but we will try.
Narrow and nail down a path for school and make that less of a dream and more of a reality. I have the itch to go back to school. Via tele-course, online, or classroom, I don't care, I need to finish something I started.
Be more positive. I realized over the last few months of 2009 that I had become a rather negative person about many things, and I truly hate how that made me feel. Its not me.
Make pillows and curtains. ON the SEWING MACHINE :)
Paint and decorate my kitchen to my liking....til we can afford any sort of remodel.
Read more. I still am lacking on the Twilight series which I really love.
Crochet and Knit more. Its just in my blood
Get the craft room up and running. Save money for this sort of thing and get r done. I need this space desperately because my hobbies are spreading to other parts of the house.
Be more organized. Period.
Manage my time better.
Get a new dishwasher. DON'T let Josh tell me he will try to fix it anymore, its been over 8 months without one and I'm tired of it.

Learn to be more excepting of things I cannot control or change.

Now I'm sure I will add more things because its a new year, but I just feel like this will help me keep track. I'm a list person. :)

Okay, so I totally stink at blogging, and maybe someday I'll do better, but Im doubtful that will come til at least after the holiday season. Once a month I guess isn't too terrible ;)

Just celebrated Christmas with the extended family this last weekend. It was a really good visit. Alex got some really awesome toys to play with that he really enjoys so far. Poor lil fella is still fighting the sickness. However, he likes to stand solo more and more so we are hoping for the steps to fallow really soon, hoping but not pushing. :)

Things have been going well with Crochet Medley. Ive made enough sales to get a few gifts here an there, which is exactly why I started trying to sell more. I wish I could have had more things in my shop for the holiday shoppers but next year that shouldn't be an issue. Still, my fans and customers have been awesome and I couldn't have asked for more.

Oh man, times are even more hectic around here than I expected. Its okay though, I like staying busy so I don't get bored. I just have neglected reading/writing blog entries :( I haven't vanished, but I do feel like Im starting to repeat that line a lot lol. Things are going alright here. We three are battling crud but I am just happy its not the flu. Sadly though Alex is not better and because of that he cannot get his h1n1 shot til next week. We will see if the doctor can get us something for the little guy. He seems to be sounding worse but getting better if that makes sense. Hes still very happy, except when its bed time and hes waking up to cough. Today is my birthday and its been a great birthday thanks to friends and family. The hubby replaced my compact camera for me, after a lil trouble with the first purchase we got it right on the second try. Also, we hadnt had Logans in a while so we ate there for my dinner and it was yummmm. Little man is starting to stand solo here and there, for a couple few seconds, most the time he just gives up but when we aren't pushing him he will be doing it off in a corner by himself :) I hope hes walking soon, I really do. He has mastered DADA, and CACA for daddy and cat. Im still gahgah or bahbah, not mama. Sigh. This weekend begins the Nov crazy for us, my cousins bridal shower :)

I don't understand why I have such a hard time keeping this blog up to date, its not like I don't get on the computer ever, Im on it a lot at different times throughout the day. Seriously. We've been very busy busy around here. With my shop opening up, and facebook pictures taking off I have had a few custom orders going on. I feel a tad overwhelmed, but Im not sure that I mean that in a bad way. I think Im just freaking out a tad about not being home for a single weekend(minus my bday weekend) in Nov. Even on my Bday weekend, we have to celebrate that, and then a house party for Josh's boss. So wow, its going to be a crazy holiday season. I think it will be better come January, and by better I mean, holidays will be outta the way, cousin will be married, baby will be 1 and not so much a baby anymore! Things will settle. Im hoping people continue to want me to make them things, the extra money is good for me. I feel bad with pricing though. Like, I think I want people to like the sound of the $ and I cut myself short. I guess I need to work on that, and be firm, and well if people don't like it, they won't buy it and thats that. I mean, thats my job right? Lately Ive just been doing custom afghans, scarfs/hats, and the magnets. The magnets are a WIP for sure, trying to get them just right still. Im getting there! So happy day to all of you!

Magnet Adventure

Lately Ive been attempting some things in the crafty world that I wouldn't ever really imagine myself doing. While placing some pictures on the fridge a few weeks ago, I realized I liked my fun glass magnets the best. So, I decide to make some. I found these awesome square tiles over at CandyTiles ArtFire Shop got some, and started playing around. I tried many adhesives, and nothing but e3000 has worked so well just yet. I think I may have to try some diamond glaze. Anyhow. I really love Candy's pendants and the tiles are super perfecto. Some of the glass Ive been using is cheap and has flaws. The magnets I got from her were great, and even though there was some postal goof ups, Candy was great. Y'all should check her out! :)

So Ive had this yarn for a good 4-5 months now, not really knowing what to do with it. Its the kinda yarn that you just cannot make an afghan out of because its costly, and I just got a new purse so that idea wouldn't work. I really didn't want to take the easy way out with the scarf idea but thanks to the help of some forum posts at Raverly and Alessandra over at Just Be Happy! I was able to figure out the ketjusilmukkahuivi scarf and then it was an easy choice. And so it begins! I have a feeling this one will be done soon, since its become very hard to put down! :)

Usually I hate Mondays, probably like most people. Joshua goes back to work and so do I taking care of Alexander alone. Its not bad, its just really hard to get up and around after a relaxing weekend. We were able to do a good deal of things this weekend, but neglected some things we really needed to do. I wanted to clean the house a ton, which didn't get done. We did get to the park and take some pictures of the baby. He is just so curious that I hardly got him to smile. So It was only a semi-productive weekend.

I'll be gone the next few days, but it will be good I hope. My fear is Alex not sleeping through the night while we are in GR. Im excited for the Red Wings training camp though. I just hope to get some nice pictures!

Labor Day Weekend

Sorry its been forever it seems since I sat down and wrote a little ditty. It has been rather busy around here, even with this holiday weekend. We decided to stay home and not travel this time around. We will have a lot of traveling in our future so I think we did a good job by staying home. Ive been a bit down lately because I have had no time to jump on the tred. I really need too, in fact, when Josh gets up from his nap I'll jump on the thing. I really should be on it now while both boys and two kittys are sound asleep.

This weekend I made a trip to Port Huron to check out the craft store Mary Maxim. It was about a half hour drive each way so it wasn't bad. In fact I found myself blaring and singing to cds I had made for Josh. It was enjoyable. They were having their tent sale and that ladies over at the Ville said I should check it out. I found a good number of things in the tent sale, but other than that their prices were kinda high on a lot of things. The store was half neat and collected and just half messy, probably because of the sale, but a lot of things were kind of in random places. I'd probably visit there again but only for big sales I would imagine. I saw so many garage sales and I should have just gone to them but I wanted to get home so I didn't leave Josh alone too long. I dunno why I worry about that, he can handle the baby just fine. I deserve time to myself. Maybe next time!

As for Crochet....
I've just been plucking away at the Larksfoot, its getting large, however I think the lenght is too big, but I'm not turning back now. Alex's ripple is nearly finished too. I've been working on a ghan with help from the ladies at the Ville who have been sending me squares. Its such a nice gesture, and a nice forum place. People are always willing to help and make nice comments. I also took the yarn from the trade center and made an afghan, it will be a bridal gift here soon. When I gift that, I'll be able to post pictures of that and the 2 comfortghans. Sorry, I can't yet because I know people in my family, and friends circles read this thing. I'd really hate to ruin a surprise. Other than those big projects Ive made a few stitch markers for thanks yous to Ville members, I was pleased with those and I will probably try to make sets to sell either at craft shows or online. I just hope people would want to buy my things. Ive made a few baby washclothes now too for that purpose.

On a different note, Ive sorted and organized almost all my beading stuff. I didn't really realize how much of a mess my beading tote really was. Plus I had beads in my scrapbooking things and kinda just all over the place. Now they are all in their cases and divided up. All but the sead beads. I may need a few more organizers, but I have some joanns and micheals coupons I could use for them so they aren't super expensive.

I've also discovered a site that Im kinda in love with now. Its called Dollar Store Crafts. Some of the stuff in there is just flat out junk but there are some very cool ideas and things that I want to try out. These being one of them! I'm also collecting bottle tops for my magnet creations. I have several people sending them to me from the Ville, and family collecting them. But hey if anyone reads this and wants to send me their metal bottle tops, PLEASE DO!!! I also purchased my frame for the butterfly collage.

Sadly, I found tables that would be aaaaaweeeeeesome for the craft room. They are listed for $10 too, so that would only be $20! But, the catch is they are an hour away, and there really is no way of us getting to them, nor being able to haul them back. We really don't want to ask someone to borrow their truck or something do get em either. Having someone deliver them is like $100. Oh well.

Crazy week!

So wow, its been a couple of days indeed. Rough ones at that I might add. I'm almost positive Alexander is teething again, hes been dealing with it as best he can, but the other morning he was running a high temp. I was worried Id have to make a fast trip to his doctor with him, but Motrin helped him, and I think it made him happier to not really feel the tooth.

Josh was actually under the weather for a few days, and with the Air Show coming this weekend its been a really busy week. He also had guard this past weekend which means he worked Mon-Thurs then Sat, Sun, and now his regular work week. Those are the weekends we hate. I hate them because he wants to sleep in on Friday, and so do I! Obviously one of us has to get up for the little one. This Drill weekend Josh wasn't exactly quiet with Alex so I barely slept in.

This past Saturday I attempted some garage sales with my friend Jessi. She also moved over here with her husband for her job. Its been nice having at least ONE female friend that I know I can relate with. I found a few things for the little man. A rocker in pretty great condition, and even a dress outfit which should fit him in time for Colin and AJs wedding this January. We also went to Olga's kitchen where I got Jessi lunch because her bday was this past weekend also, and we drove around the college campus where her and her husband will be taking some classes this fall. We were both fairly surprised at the size of it, being that its a community college and all. It was fun though. Target also had a sale on some things I want for the craft room, so Sunday me and little man went on a trip. I was able to get my 9 cube organizer one sale, I wanted 2 for the desk, kindof like this. I droll over her lovely set up. I figured one would work for now since I may want to set it up differently. I also picked up one of the wire cube organizers for now, Im thinking I will need another one or two of these for my yarn. Of course I did NOT pay that much and mine has 6 cubes so far.

I also managed to finish the shadowbox my Aunt commissioned me for, it turned out rather nice. I can't post pictures til it is gifted though because Im afraid that I would ruin the surprise. Ive also been hooking away at Alexander's blanket, and the living room blanket. I also have recieved some lovely squares for the Comfortghan I am doing, also a gift. Id love to have time to make Colin and AJ one as a gift too, we shall see. Josh kinda got on me about my WIP or UFOs, which ever you prefer, so Im going to have to work on that, however I told him that will probably always be an issue! haha. I've also decided to stock up, maybe over the next year, and enter myself in a flea market or craft show sometime next year. I have always wanted to be able to make some extra money off my crafts, and just never had enough to sell, or the right audience. Ive done a few custom order things here and there, but never the same thing I guess.

Im trying desperately to prepare the house for company this weekend. Josh's mother and step father will be here Thurs-Sun and my parents will be here on Sat for the air show. I love when company comes its just ughhh. I think you all know what Im talking about.

Well, now the little one is awake, so I must jet.

I don't know how I could forget to write about this earlier this morning, I must have been sleeping still or something. Yesterday was our wedding anniversary! 2 years and counting. Let's see how many we can add to that. We really didn't celebrate anything, that's kinda of our style. Josh got out of work a little early and bought some ammo, which he sent me off to get him more. They had a limit of 6. Ammo is a royal pain in the rear end to get around here because people think Obama is gonna lay down the gun law. Anyhow, he stuck with the tradition gift of "cotton" and got me an awesome pillow, along with a pillow protector and a pillow case that shockingly matches our bedding well. He did good, and even if we have our problems, its been bliss.

I really should try to post daily, but man the days fly by sometimes. Like...where did yesterday go?! Sheesh.

The past few days have consisted of cleaning, cooking, baking, and lots of baby loving.

I yet again attempted to make Mom's Banana Bread and it came out well this time, but the center of the second loaf sunk in again because it was under cooked. Someday I will get it right. I may need to try a different recipe.

Last night I decided to make a recipe given to me by my sister. It was fairly easy, and very yummy.

Penne Chicken Casserole
1 pound whole–wheat penne pasta
Cooking spray
1 ½ pounds boneless chicken breast
1 large jar tomato sauce
1 ½ cups part–skim shredded mozzarella

Preheat oven to 375°F.
Bring a large potof water to a boil; season with salt. When boiling, add pasta. Cook according to directions on package (about 7 to 8 minutes), or until al dente. When cooked, drain and rinse with cold water.

While pasta cooks, spray a cookie sheet with cooking spray and arrange chicken breast on tray. Sprinkle lightly with salt and pepper and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until cooked through.

Remove from oven and cool. When cool, dice into ½–inch pieces. Spray a 13–by–9–inch casserole dish with cooking spray. In a large mixing bowl, toss pasta, chicken, and sauce (add a bit more sauce if desired). Place mixture in a casserole dish and sprinkle with shredded cheese. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until cheese is completely melted and casserole is hot all the way through

It was veeeery yummy. Don't have a final product picture though, hubby was "starving"

I haven't done much in the crochet department because my Aunt is having me make a shadowbox for my cousin who just got engaged. Its been a hard process for sure. It takes me forever just to make a scrapbook page because Im so picky. I did however pick up my Butterfly Punch because first off I ADORE butterflies, and I would like to make a collage simular to here. I'd like to do one for the craft room and bedroom. We shall see.

Rainy Saturday

I have a couple pictures of Audrey's ripple, just waiting on a few from my sister cause I forgot to get some nice ones before giving the blanket to her. I used a ripple stitch from Jan Eaton 200 Ripple, and Vanna's Choice Baby colors Sweet Pea and Goldfish.

This was another other option. I wanted to try a Granny Ripple. I do believe I made this with "I Love This Yarn" This will go to a friend and former co-workers daughter Peyton.

I also, like I said, started the afghan for the living room. I am addicted to the stitch so its been hard to put down at night when Im watching Forensic Files. I've been forcing myself to put it down no later than 11pm or there will be rough days ahead.

I have only worked on this blanket for maybe 2 hours total and already Im so far...yikes!! I almost want to make my afghan with this stitch. I still haven't decided, either Wavy Blanket , the Larksfoot stitch above, or Lucy's from Attic24 ripple pattern. I picked the colors but now Im not so sure I want to use the Red Heart brand of yarn. I may have to look at Hobby Lobby.

I attempted to do some bargain shopping today but it was horribly rainy out. Good for our poor lawn, but not for garage saling. I went to 2 with only a bowl.

Its very pretty though, and large so I can make cookies in it, or salad?

Then I ventured into The Salvation Army in New Baltimore to check it out. By then it was pouring out. Thankfully I remembered the umbrella. I got soaked anyways. Of course they were busy busy so the front row of parking was completely full. I did get an organizer there and a candle holder, at least thats what I think it is. I may go back and get two more to put in the empty holes of the organizer, but I got it to keep my hooks in on my craft room desk, once that is built finally...someday...

I have been getting a few things for the room here and there, mostly if its on sale or at the $1 bins that Target/Micheals have.

I decided I need to make it a weekly habit to post. Life with a 7 month old still hasn't slowed down, in fact now that he is almost crawling it is getting harder to contain the little guy. Oh well, that's life. How could I not love it with a sweet little face like this???

I finished Audrey's blanket completely! 100% finished, and I love the boarder I decided to do. I have been stocking up on yarn, maybe its a bit of hording complex going on lately. I started the blanket for our living room, I chose various shades of brown and blue. I will post pictures this evening. I also bought the first colors of MY blanket. Yep, finally making something big for myself. I haven't made a blanket for me since I first re-taught myself to crochet.

Also I'll have to post about this past weekend, it really was a joy. I realize that sometimes the simple life is the better life, or at least for a long weekend! We decided to go to the Rye family reunion this year(my moms side) and it was up in the UP. Our whole clan was there pretty much and it was honestly really a breath of fresh air. I love being in the woods, minus skeeters, but I also got some time to snap some pictures. We intend on going for a longer visit next year to make it more worth while.

Manic Monday - first post

Gosh, I am feeling pretty lame having this blog for so long and never using it. I really should. Ever since Alexander was born its been a crazy life. I never really imagined motherhood this way, but that's a good thing. He's truly my pride and joy in every way I could ever think of.

Joshua's new job is going rather well, which I wasn't sure if he was really going to take well to it or not. So far so good. This base here is very different from what he's used to but he is fitting in really well, and I think he is happier where he's at over where he though he wanted to be. I'm so happy that I am able to stay at home with the babe because of him. However, I get the itch to work a lot, or do something, sell something, read and write something. I really want to get into school already, I feel like I quit college and that's that, and that doesn't sit well with me. Someday when things have seemingly settled around here maybe I will be able to, but I'm thinking its going to still be insane while taking classes. I don't really miss retail, except a few people I worked with.

My friends back home I truly miss. At least our best friends are near us, and although Josh continues to grow close with his co-workers I feel a hole. Its been a very long time now since I have seen my former best friend and it still stings, still pisses me off, still hurts. Its so completely awkward to chat with her now. I don't know it feels strained still. I blame myself for that, I probably should have handled it differently. Now we are at similar points in our lives and its feeling like this would be a great time for our friendship to blossom even more than it was, but its just not. Maybe I should just give in a bit of my white flag, not sure. If there is one thing about myself that I pretty much hate is how I hold on to the past, a grudge if you will. At the same time, Ive always felt that people take advantage of me, such is life I guess.

I have been itching to get my craft room together! I love this house, really I do, but we still feel like there is sooo much to do and really there is. I want to remodel the kitchen and bathrooms, but its stinkin' expensive. At least I watch a lot of HGTV and DIY so I have some vision.

I finished our little niece's blanket finally, now its on to finish Alexander's. I should have never put any of my crochet down I love it so much. Maybe I can get Jessi into it and we can find a group get together around here to go to. I really need to scrapbook also. Again, the craft room has to get done.
